Warm Coats- Warm Hearts - Audrey P
Imagine going without a coat during the coldest months of the year. . For millions of children and adults experiencing homelessness and other urgent need situations across the country, this is the reality. R K Subaru partnered with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. On 2026-01-19, R K Subaru donated 132 Coats to Mt. Trashmore Family YMCA. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it has a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being. At Mt. Trashmore Family YMCA, we are so grateful for this gift that will help so many in our community. I had a family come to tour our preschool, to enroll their 4 year old son, who had just moved to Virginia. It happened to be one of the coldest and snowiest weeks of the year. The child and his mom showed up in a hoodie and sweater. I was able to give her one of the extra coats for her son.. She thanked me repeatedly as they had not had the means to get a coat yet. This made my heart so happy to know that I was able to help take a burden off the families of so many children who use our YMCA. Thank you for this opportunity. It was amazing and the chlldren still talk about the day all the time. They thank me constantly for getting them a new coat.

By adding two more mobile mammography vans, Sentara Health will be able to provide an additional 4,000 more mammography screenings per year. Thank you for joining us in expanding our capacity, with a goal to improve the quality of care for our region. We are very grateful for our community partnership together."
Love Never Grows Old: Louie’s Second Chance - Nicol R
At the Virginia Beach SPCA, we see stories of resilience every day — but few capture the heart quite like Louie’s. Louie, a ten-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, came to us when his longtime owner suffered a stroke and could no longer care for him. Despite the changes in his life, Louie arrived with a wagging tail and a heart full of love. He had a few “lumps and bumps” that come with age, but he never let that slow him down. Louie greeted everyone he met with a gentle nudge and a sparkle in his eye, reminding us that joy and kindness don’t fade with time. When RK Subaru invited the VBSPCA to join them for their Subaru Loves Pets adoption event, we knew Louie had to be part of it. The team at RK Subaru welcomed our shelter pets like family — transforming their showroom into a celebration of second chances. They met every tail wag with a smile, shared stories of our animals on social media, and helped show the community that every pet, no matter their age or condition, deserves love. Louie stole the show that day. He soaked up every bit of attention, greeting guests and posing for photos as if he knew something special was about to happen. And he was right. Thanks to the visibility and kindness of the RK Subaru team, Louie’s story reached the perfect family. They saw his photo from the event, fell in love instantly, and soon opened their home — and their hearts — to this gentle senior pup. Today, Louie is thriving. He spends his days sunbathing, playing gentle games of fetch, and curling up next to his family who adore him. His journey from uncertainty to unconditional love is a testament to what’s possible when our community comes together. The partnership between the VBSPCA and RK Subaru goes far beyond one event. Their ongoing support helps amplify our mission and shine a light on the animals who need us most — especially seniors like Louie. Their compassion inspires others to adopt, volunteer, and even shop local; we’ve met adopters who shared that they purchased their car from RK Subaru because of the dealership’s dedication to helping homeless animals. Louie’s story is a beautiful reminder of what the Subaru Love Promise is all about: bringing people and pets together through kindness, compassion, and community. RK Subaru Loves Learning - April S
R K Subaru is committed to ensuring that every student has access to a quality education. To support this mission, we are partnering with AdoptAClassroom.org to positively impact students at Lynnhaven Elementary School in Virginia Beach this year. Across the country, millions of students lack the necessary supplies and learning materials to succeed in the classroom. In fact, 92% of teachers in the United States report that their students come from families unable to afford school supplies, often prompting teachers to spend their own money to fill the gap. Through Subaru Loves Learning, R K Subaru is helping local schools by adopting classrooms at Lynnhaven Elementary and providing funding to teachers for essential supplies and resources. Subaru is proud to be the largest corporate supporter of AdoptAClassroom.org. Thanks to this partnership, Subaru and participating retailers have supported over 950,000 students nationwide, including 616 students in Virginia Beach, VA.
Arbor Day Foundation - April S
RK Subaru is proud to partner with the Arbor Day Foundation. As part of our Subaru Loves the Earth initiative, they provided and distributed 100 mature, regionally appropriate trees to our neighbors. Trees play a crucial role in this mission—they give us oxygen, help cool our streets, filter water, improve air quality, prevent flooding, and promote better health. Together, everyone can help restore and strengthen the natural beauty of our community.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society delivery - Meredith J
RK Subaru partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. This partnership involved delivering blankets and messages of hope to cancer patients on July 2nd, 2025.

Helping others strengthens communities, which is why R K Subaru is partnering with Operation Warm®, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. Through this partnership and other Subaru Loves to Help® efforts, Subaru and retailers like R K Subaru have helped nearly 900,000 children and adults in urgent need. On 01/29/2025, R K Subaru donated 204 coats to Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Virginia. These essential items not only help keep children protected, warm, and dry, it can have a significant impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Blanket Delivery - Kim C
On Tuesday, July 30th, 2024, RK Subaru of Virginia Beach had the opportunity to deliver 80 blankets to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk as part of the Subaru Loves to Care program. The blankets were accompanied by personalized messages of hope written by customers in the community and staff of RK Subaru. These gifts were warmly received by the staff and patients, with staff showing their excitement as they know how much these gifts of love and support are appreciated. It was a wonderful day and heartfelt thanks to RK Subaru for joining the LLS mission to create a world without blood cancer.
Bad to the Boards RK Subaru! - Darby O
The CHKD Bad to the Boards corn hole fundraiser was a hole-in-one for fun and community spirit, and RK Subaru of Virginia Beach was there to sponsor the event and cheer on the participants! Held on May 19th 2024 , the fundraiser brought together local businesses and residents for a day of friendly competition, delicious food, and raising vital funds for CHKD (Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters). RK Subaru's presence was a hub of activity throughout the day, with our representatives from the dealership handing out Subaru gear at our table decked out in Subaru swag and answering many Subaru questions while enjoying the company of our locals and cheering on the competition. In the end, the CHKD Bad to the Boards fundraiser was a success! The event raised a significant amount of money for CHKD, and it provided a great opportunity for the community to come together and have some fun. RK Subaru is proud to have been a part of such a fun supporting event!
Subaru Clients Fall in Love with Shelter Dog - Mandi K
As part of Subaru Loves Pets Month, the Virginia Beach SPCA visited RK Subaru October 30th for an adoption awareness event. Talia, a four year old bulldog mix, was in attendance to greet customers. Although Talia had been out in the community for many other events, she was one of the VBSPCA's longest canine residents. She had been waiting for her forever home for two long months despite her sweet demeanor. The Subaru event turned out to be Talia's lucky day! She met a family at the dealership who instantly fell in love with her. The next day, they visited the shelter and officially adopted her!
